XTREME HORSEPOWER PACKS A WICKED PUNCH

INNISFIL, ON – On Saturday August 29, take everything that you’ve ever known about horse racing and forget it.  Reverse the direction.  Alter the distances.  Expand the number of horses in each race.  Shake up the rules and create something that nobody’s seen before.  That’s the mantra of Saturday’s Xtreme Horsepower event at Georgian Downs.

"Expect the unexpected," said Chris Roberts, Georgian Downs’ Director of Operations. "Xtreme Horsepower is about everything that we aren’t on the rest of our 107 days of racing.  For fans, the action is non-stop and completely unique.  We’ve even pushed back our post time to 6:00 to fit everything in.”

Crowd favourites from previous editions such as the Xtreme Battle, 5/8 mile sprints, marathons, and the Xtreme Rewind (horses racing in the opposite direction) will return. Brand new events include the Xtreme Shotgun, which will be raced from a standing start and the Xtreme Rush, a three-furlong mad dash.  An exhibition Xtreme Miniature horse race will also be presented after race 3.

The out-of-the-ordinary Xtreme races won’t be the only entertainment this Saturday evening.  Georgian Downs has planned attractions for children and adults alike.  TROT 4 Kids will be featuring a CSI horse lab under the big top.  Fire breathers, jugglers and human statues will be on-site, along with many other circus-style performers. Clarabella the clown will provide free face painting.  Xtreme children’s jump and play amusements will be offered beside the patio.  Watch your favourite drivers compete in the Horseless Sulky Pull. Contests including Money Machine Madness and Deal or No-Deal will entertain everyone between races. Eric Kidd will perform live after the races in the Longshot Lounge.  Free Xtreme souvenir ball caps will be available to race fans who purchase a Georgian Downs race program on August the 29 (while quantities last).

Xtreme horsepower is unlike any other racing event in the world and will attract a huge crowd to Georgian Downs.  Plan to attend and always expect the unexpected!
